Another year older...and wiser??

Well readers I apologize for taking five weeks off blogging and instead have been dating bunches! Well dating just one, M&M. After almost two months he is still around! This is a new record folks. I will wait for the applause to die down...he is showing no signs of leaving. In the past I have found that after the initial aw of my awesomeness wears off the men take off. M&M seems to be making steps to make sure I stick around as well. I shall give you an overview of the significant dates of the last five weeks...even I have been a little shocked.

Um who wouldn't want to go to the game with me!
I last left you the week he was going to cook me dinner. He did. Spaghetti in the crock pot and garlic bread. I brought crazy dog Lola to meet his big dogs as well. After their initial chaotic meeting they settled in a bit with Lola spending most of her time at my feet. Dinner was good. I surprised him with a Sharks t-shirt. He has questioned my interest in him. I reminded him that I was taking him to a Sharks game! We would be heading to San Jose the next day for the Sharks playoff game. It is about a four hour drive to San Jose from Reno. This would be a long time in a car with someone I had only been seeing for a few weeks. It could be disaster. It wasn't. We looked pretty cute in our Sharks shirts (don't worry they didn't match). We arrived in San Jose a few hours before the game and about an hour before they opened the stadium. We walked to a local bar that was full of Sharks fans. It was fun. Our seats at the game were absolutely fantastic. Only 14 rows back from the ice, kind of kiddy corner to the goal. We were like little excited kids. It was a lot of fun to see him so excited and it made me feel good. We were on the jumbo tron. Wow my hair is light. We must have looked cute enough for the camera man to think we deserved jumbo tron time...but then M&M pointed out some of the other not so cute people who made it on the jumbo tron too. Hmpf. Great date. Really enjoy hanging out with him.

The following Friday I decided it might be time to finally show off my cooking skills. We will have been dating for a month. As I previously mentioned I was refusing to do nice things until I knew the man was sticking around...he doesn't seem to be leaving and makes it pretty clear he thinks I'm awesome (obvs). I found a hilarious t-shirt that proclaimed I was a keeper. I must wear that Friday. He will think it is super funny. I mulled over what to make. Not sure if I wanted to show off my grilling skills at the same time as my cooking skills. Should I really give away all my fabulous secrets? Well after getting a "top secret recipe for I want to sex you up and maybe tonight we can try anal" grilled steak marinade from my dear friend, Double Dose of Chocolate Chin Pimp, I decided to go for that...not because of the subtext, but because it did sound pretty damn good. I paired it with grilled asparagus and spicy sweet potato fries. I also made a weight watcher friendly chocolate bundt cake. What can I say...I am a keeper. My shirt says so. M&M did not notice my shirt right away when he arrived...but when he did he came over and kissed me and said "Great shirt." Yes I know. The food turned out amazing...I think he might just stick around a bit longer.

The next night was my friend's 30th birthday and of course that meant going dancing. M&M has expressed he is not really a dancer. I did not know how this night would end up going. I definitely like to shake my booty. I like to shake my booty with men who have rhythm. Well give us enough to drink and we will have a fine time! My young UNR basketball player friend was there. He is still a tall drink of water. Gave me a big smile and hug. I may have felt slightly awkward since he actually had asked to hang out with me a couple weeks before. Obviously he would have made me a total cougar. Told him I was seeing someone and he was very nice and told me he hoped it worked out. Sweet guy. M&M proceeded to dance and have a great time...once he had a few drinks. Fun times.

The following week he asked if I wanted to see a movie. He got to pick since I picked the last one...with Channing Tatum. Oh he makes me swoon. Anyway he picked The Raven with John Cusack. I had heard nothing of this movie. I made the mistake of looking it up. Not the best reviews. We went on a Monday night and I think there were three other people in the theater. Should have been a sign. I fell asleep. It was a 7:15 movie! I fell asleep with all the loud sounds occasionally disturbing my slumber. Maybe I should re-think that keeper t-shirt. Don't waste your money...or your date's money on this movie! The next morning I awoke with a sore throat. So can I blame my sleepiness on the fact I was getting sick? Well sick I got. I didn't see M&M the rest of the week. That weekend I went to KFalls and had a girls weekend with my Portland bestie and our dogs. Super duper fabulous time.

The week I returned was the beginning of my birthday week. My 4th annual 29th birthday was on Wednesday May 9. I strongly dislike aging. Monday I got home from work and on my porch was a small package of eight of my favorite candy bars with a note, "Just wanted to make sure your birthday week had a sweet start." Ahhhh. What have I done to deserve someone being so nice? Tuesday I had a small bag of Carmex on my porch. Clearly M&M knows the way to my heart. Chocolate AND Carmex!! The dreaded day I turned 33 arrived on Wednesday. I got a huge bouquet of flowers delivered at work. They were full of spring like flowers dominated by a yellow theme...with some purple iris'. My two favorite colors. M&M is filling my week with my favorite things. Thoughtful man indeed. As I was getting ready for my evening with M&M I felt a little flicker in my belly...were those butterflies I just felt?! That night I would be having dinner with M&M at Rapscallion's, a local fantastic seafood restaurant, that I have been to once...for appetizers. Awhile ago M&M had asked me my favorite meal and I had jokingly responded by saying lobster and fillet mignon - these are pricey items that I rarely have! Well apparently he picked Rapscallion for its lobster/fillet Surf and Turf meal. After seeing the price I was going to get something else, but he said he would be offended if I got something else. What an amazing meal! Wow.

After dinner he had got us a room at the Peppermill...bottle of wine chilling...with a patio that over looked the pool. It was a beautiful evening and we sat outside and drank wine and talked. I still had a lovely hacky cough from my cold which I'm pretty sure made me super attractive. Thursday he got me one of my favorite bottles of wine and Friday he took me to my favorite sushi restaurant for dinner. Overall one of the best birthday weeks ever. He is so nice and makes me feel special. You can throw up a little in your mouth...its ok. I don't think I have been treated so nicely in almost a decade. I really have dated a showcase of douche bags. Geesh. Its about time someone treats me well! I still kind of don't know what to think about it.

33 and Fabulous!
My birthday weekend M&M's mom and grandpa were going to be in town so he would not be able to attend my fabulous birthday dinner with friends at Fuego on Saturday night. He did, however, ask me to brunch with his mom and grandpa. I panicked again. I haven't met someones mom in 10 years. This is scary and seems so serious. On the other hand, they only come to town 1-2 times a year so what harm could it really cause. Brunch was at 11:15 Sunday morning and I told M&M if I wasn't out to late I would attend (after much consultation with friends). I had an outfit all picked out. Well I ended up staying out waaaayyy too late after my birthday dinner and could barely drag myself out of bed for a shower. There is no way I could impress a mom feeling the way I did. I would not be able to present myself as the newly 33 and fabulous lady that I am. I had to cancel. I felt really bad. I know he was not pleased. I suggested dinner. They wanted something casual like pizza. So we would go to pizza. Ah crap, I do not have a casual fabulous meet the mom outfit that I can throw together. I talk to my mom and she says that I need to wear a dress or a skirt. I have nothing! She told me to go shopping, "Right now!" I had three hours until I was to meet them. My first attempt at Kohl's was unsuccessful so I hit up Ross and got a delightful little floral summer dress for only $14! Perfect.

Meet the mom dress!
Okay the scary time has arrived...I'm nervous driving to the pizza place. I am going to be judged! Am I good enough for her son? What if I get asked intimidating questions?! I am a shy girl. I am not talkative with strangers. Scared. I walk in and M&M comes right over to greet me, walks me over to the table and introduces me to his mom and grandpa as just "Aimee." That's my name. We ended up having a very pleasant time. These are normal people. Whew. His mom was nice and actually reminded me a bit of my mom. I think I could easily spend time with these people. As we were all chatting I looked over at M&M as he was talking and I thought to myself..."I feel like his girlfriend." I was ok with it. Gasp. It did not freak me out. This is significant progress people! After dinner we went on a brief drive to look at the wild horses that feed behind my house. Overall I thought it was actually quite a nice time and I survived meeting the mom.

A couple days later M&M asked me to dinner and we met when I got off work on May 15. He keeps taking me to these nice restaurants that have all this delightful food. Dating him is good for the self esteem, but bad for the waistline! At dinner he asked me to be his girlfriend...and this time instead of feeling panic in my guts I actually blushed and my ears turned to fire. I took that as a good sign and said I would. We leaned over the table and kissed. You can throw up a little again...I'll wait.

So there you have it...the significant dates that led us to our current status...happy couple. Ew. This past weekend we went on the local wine walk with two other couples (including the friends that introduced us). I am always the odd single man out and this was such a nice time being a couple with other couples. He told me that he had such a great time too because it was the first time we were doing something with other couples.

This is a man who treats me well and appears to enjoy doing nice things for me. He makes me laugh and we have a good time together. Of course our real selves will have to show eventually...but for now it looks like my SINGLE and Fabulous days have come to an end. I guess now I just have to be Fabulous!

So maybe I have finally learned...time will tell...until next time...
