The first month of the new year is over. I find this unacceptable. Time is literally going by too fast. Amazingly a lot has happened in the first month of 2012. I will fill you in my little readers, buckle in...it might be a long one...but oh so worth it.
Let's begin with the Bahamas Cruise...on the Carnival Fantasy. This is not to be confused with the Carnival ship that hit a rock and the captain abandoned, but it is the same ship that just a few days later a 26 year old "fell" from the top deck and died. My cruising experience is much more pleasurable. I am cruising with single Sister E for her birthday...31st to be exact. Dear God why do we keep aging?! Hmmm we went to Vegas for her birthday last year...
http://www.datecrydrink.blogspot.com/2011/02/i-went-to-vegas-and-all-i-got-was-this.html I think I need to start planning trips for my birthday! Anyways the cruise was out of Charleston, SC (where Sister E lives) on the Carnival Fantasy. A quick five day trip to the Bahamas with stops in Nassau and Freeport. The first day, Friday, starts with a complete debacle of getting dropped at the port. The port is ghetto and and disorganized. Vacation started with a couple of frustrated 30 something and fabulous ladies and desperately wanting to board the ship so the drinking could commence. We had to get our sign and sail cards. Let the male flirting of the trip begin! The employee helping us was an extremely nice man probably in his 80's who basically told us how attractive we were and that he likes to tell his wife he is old, not dead when it comes to appreciating the ladies! Ha. Sister E and I are both single, but as previously described in the Vegas birthday blog we are extremely different and I could take some instruction when it comes to the whole flirtation business from her. We are attractive girls and we were scoping the lines of people...no age appropriate men. Hmph. We did see a lady in her early 40's who was dressed nicely, hair and nails done, possibly some botox and looked good for her age. Sadly we will be that lady in less time that I like to admit.

We embark! Straight to the bar for a Mango Swirl for me and a Mudslide for Sister E. Oh by the way. I got my hair extension reward for losing 25 pounds and they look pretty fantastic if I do say so myself. The festivities of the day begin with the fun crew dancing on the deck of the ship...um hello we must join in. There is a camera man filming events from the ship throughout the entire cruise and we are able to watch this on one of the channels in our room. We later see ourselves dancing. Ha. We explore the ship, check out the room and get an itinerary of the day. We are dressed pretty casual for this first day. I have on denim capris and later put on jeans because it is slightly chilly when we leave the port and have on a royal blue tank top with a ruffled top and flip flops. We go to the dining hall around 6:30 for our first dinner of the cruise. We are asked if its okay to seat us at a four person table, um yea why would that bother us? We get seated...oh I see there were already two people sitting at this table! Um slightly awkward. Its like uh hello we are going to eat with you strangers. If we were to be seated at a table with people it could have at least been with some hot guys...um no it was two women who appeared to be in their late 40's to early 50's. We were appropriately friendly. I thought they may have been partners until it was discovered they were mother/daughter! Wow that mom looks good for 65. They were friendly, but Sister E and I definitely do not want to sit with strangers again...its kind of awkward to flirt with male staff in front of strangers. At dinner we tried escargots for the first time. Not revolting, but I didn't gobble it down either. After dinner and a delightful dessert of melting chocolate cake we went to learn the Cha Cha. We learn the basic moves of the Cha Cha from our male instructor, who may have liked to move his hips a bit too much. After learning the basics it was time to partner up. Well guess that means us sisters are partners. Unfortunately he was instructing what the man was to do and what the woman was to do. Um hello, two single and fabulous ladies here. So I guess I am the man...the leader by default because I am bigger and older. The instructor kept giving us instructions and always ended his sentences with ya. He said "Not too bad girl in the red track jacket." That would be Sister E he was referring to. Of course! Cha Cha was fun.
Next up was Game Show Mania hosted by Orlando from the Fun Crew. Hello Orlando. He was a tall drink of water. Smooth black skin with a Jamaican accent. He instructed us on the rules and then said he would pick three contestants from the audience - he would choose whoever was making the most raucous when he turned around. I don't know what got into me, maybe it was the wine with dinner, maybe it was the chance to be on stage with Orlando...who knows, but I hollered and shook my little hips when he turned around. I was picked!! Contestant #3. It was a Jeopardy style music trivia game where Orlando would read a question, music would play, and we had to ring in. When we got an answer right, the people/person in our traveling party had to get up and dance. That meant every time I answered a question right Sister E had to get up and shake her booty. Um clearly this game was made for us! First question...what movie is this song from? Aladdin! 100 points for me, dance E. I did not know the next couple questions. What event would you hear this song at? I did not ring in quick enough and the two dummies next to me didn't get it right...first one said funeral, next one said mortician. Um? Hello it was the wedding march!!! Kind of sad they both thought it sounded like a sad song. Haha. Dance Sister E. Next question was who sings this song? Ace of Base! Dance Sister E. Next question was another who sings this song? Boyz II Men!! Dance Sister E. I am in the lead!! For the win I only need one more question. Who sings this song and you must perform a dance. Michael Jackson!! I win...oh no I have to dance...on stage...in front of an audience...imitating Michael Jackson. I might fall through the floor with embarrassment. I tried moon walking and spun around and thrusted my hips. Crowd went wild! I won a much coveted gold ship on a stick and a picture with Orlando. Ahh good times.
Later that night we played a little Blackjack listened to some live music and went to karaoke. Sister E would like to sing a song...It's Raining Men. I order us some lemon drop shots STAT. It's a fun song, catchy, everyone likes it, what could go wrong? Oh I know you could throw two fabulous single ladies on stage who don't really know the words other than the chorus. Awfulness ensued. Pitchy lyrics that were not in sync with the track made us both want to walk off stage in the middle. Not to use cliches, but Epic Fail!! Well after that horrendous display of un-fabulousness we needed to redeem ourselves. Time for the Discotheque! Sister E and I are both in jeans...not even remotely close to our typical club attire, but we looked around and no one was dressed up...well in fact there really was hardly anyone dancing. We must change that. We hit the floor and of course the others soon followed. A couple of young ladies showed up in their slutty dresses and we knew we would do better the next night. Suddenly on the microphone we heard someone talking about Dancing Queen and Game Show Mania...um is he talking to us?! Yes he is! Mace the Face, one of the Fun Crew members is calling us onto the dance floor and shaking his booty with us. I leave the floor to get a drink and as I'm leaving I notice a young man watching me. I play it cool. At the bar getting my drink I see he keeps turning around to look at me. At this point I'm probably glowing (sweating) a little from all the dancing. I grab some water and go stand at the bar near the dance floor. This young man approaches me, sticks out his hand and introduces himself. Ahh that was very polite. He's got a cute little southern accent and is cute. He just got his MBA and is on the cruise to celebrate. Cute and smart, with a southern accent...they don't make boys like this in Reno! Sister E comes to join us and then his friend comes over as well. We all make introductions and his friend is cute and kind of silly. We can tell these are some fun boys. They are with a group of six - 3 boys/3girls. What a great start to the cruise.

Next day, Saturday, Fun Day at Sea! We slept in until about 10:00 and threw on some sweats and headed down to get some breakfast with our sunglasses on. I'm sorry, but we were those girls. Late night and no eye make up means don't look me in the eye. While waiting in line for our omelet to order the gentleman in front of us recognizes us as the ladies who sang the un-fabulous version of It's Raining Men. He LOVED it! He would not stop saying how great he thought it was and that our energy and personalities shown through and no one thought it was awful. Wow he might need his hearing checked. Oh he was sweet. He wanted to sing with us. We agreed, because really why not, on vacation and we won't see any of these people again!! We hung out on the deck for awhile after breakfast. We saw the boys we met the night before and just briefly waved at them. Sister E wanted to take a nap so I went to the gym for an hour. I did not have any headphones (as I lamely forgot them!) So I had to watch the tv on my treadmill for 60 mins with no sound!! Oh well I watched Moneyball with Brad Pitt, who really all you need to do is be able to see him, no need to hear any words. After working out I took a nap and before we knew it, it was time to get ready for the night! It was Cruise Elegant attire night. Time to get fancy :) There really are not too many occasions to get dressed up as an adult. I wore an elegant cream colored satin dress with a small train. It was empire waisted, strapless and had a broach at the bust line. Sister E wore a lovely turquoise satin gown with a jeweled halter neckline. We looked fabulous. Not going to sugar coat it. I might have looked like I was going to my own wedding, but whatever...in fact someone said that. Oh my did we get gawked at that night. Although in every one's defense there really were no other single and fabulous ladies on the cruise. There were a lot of couples and older folks, but no other groups of girls our age...surprisingly. We saw the boys from last night as we were heading to the dining hall. They told us we looked amazing and asked what we were doing later...comedy tonight! They said they would meet up with us later. We got seated in the dining hall and there were about two cute waiters, unfortunately we did not have a hot bar waiter named Stan like the last cruise, and one of them came and told us we looked like princesses. I've never been told that in my life so that was sweet...I am sure he has quite the way with the ladies. Good looking man on a cruise with an accent can win over even the coldest hearts. That night at dinner we tried alligator fritters. Not a fan of alligator. It is chewy - kind of what you would expect the texture of a snail to be like. After dinner we headed to the comedy show...there was to be two tonight. We were a little early so we decided to get a drink at the bar just outside the comedy show area. We ordered lemon drop martinis. Apparently this woman didn't know how to make them because she gave us a martini glass filled with lemon vodka with a sugar rim. Whoa. That drink definitely made us all warm and tingly and maybe slightly tipsy - well we are certainly ready to laugh now! The show was hilarious. We had thirty minutes until the next show - we decided to go change out of our fancy dresses and get into some slutty ones. We saw the boys and they said they would save us a seat for the next show. Went and changed into a black and silver striped dress with a drapey neck line. Well I'm not actually sure if it is a dress...I wore it as a shirt a couple times, but since I have lost weight it looks more like a dress...kind of a short fun one though. Sister E wore an animally print tight stretchy dress. Obviously we again were the hit of the ship walking back to the comedy show. You almost would think these people have never seen cute girls before. True to their word the boys had saved us seats. During the show the comedian says to the boy sitting next to me, "You look young, how old are you?" His answer...wait for it...25. Really? I guess I kind of assumed he was around that age because he just got his MBA, but goodness that seems young, doesn't it? At least I look like I could blend in with 25 year olds...they did not know how old me and Sister E were and I wasn't going to be the one to say it! After comedy we went dancing again. There was another man at the disco who asked us about our singing. Oh wow this is embarrassing. The ship really isn't big enough to avoid people who saw us humiliate ourselves. He was nice too and said we were not bad. I think these men are just deluded by the fact we are cute. Again we got called out over the microphone. What can I say...people (ie men) love us! Mace the Face was all up on me that night. He was quite the good little dancer...little being the key term in that sentence. He had the potential of being a good looking guy. I pretty much knew my legs would be sore the next day. He asked what room we were in and I told him without even thinking. I realized later that was dumb. He said they were performing a hip hop workshop the next day and if we weren't there he would call the room. Ok whatever. We hung out with our friendly boys and danced the night away. My new friend could not dance...at all, but you can always appreciate a guy who gives it a shot! The next day would be Sunday and our first stop in Nassau. We didn't want to stay out too late because we had to be off the ship semi early to get our moneys worth at the all inclusive resort. I think we were asleep by 2 a.m.

Sunday - Yay we are in Nassau, Bahamas!!!! Yay its swimsuit time!!!! The day before I modeled my swimsuits for Sister E so she could tell me which ones to wear. I got a new one from Victoria's Secret (of course) and it was a triangle top, which I have never worn before and thought it didn't do anything for my boobage. She said it looked fine and she would wear it. Ok sold. It had a tangerine bottom with a sequined sparkly top - very perfect for some beach/pool time in the Bahamas!! Getting to the resort is like being herded by a first time cow herder. Its slightly chaotic, but we made it to the RIU resort. We hit the beach and immediately bombarded by the local Bahamian men to rent jet skis, parasail...etc. We had a young man get beach chairs for us...we tipped him $2. He told us to be careful of the vultures....and said he wasn't just talking about the birds. Haha. Bahamian ladies up and down the beach trying to sell us jewelry. There were a few clouds in the sky, but they were gone by early afternoon. All these attractive Bahamian men looked quite nice with the ocean as their backdrop. One man approached to ask about renting jet skis for an hour. I had to bite my tongue from asking if I could rent him for an hour. Free drinks and food were included with our day. At lunch time we went in for the buffet and hello hot guy!! I spotted a man with piercing blue eyes and a chiseled jaw and some scruffiness. Eye contact is made! He appears to be with a group of men. This group of men actually sits at the table close to Sister E and I. We try and eavesdrop to see if they are speaking English. We cannot tell. I attempt a half assed smile as they exit. After lunch we decide to lay by the pool. The pool is where the bar is and they have a swim up bar as well. The good looking men roam about. Sister E struts her stuff. I am reading my book and Sister E went to go look at the ocean (translation stand seductively in hopes good looking men approach). They do!! Of course. She talks to them for awhile and when she comes back over she says they want us to have some drinks with them. Okay fine I will go mingle with the good looking men who talked to my sister first. They are from Canada and are actually very friendly. We have one drink when the entertainers at the resort try and get people up to do the Cupid Shuffle. Oh dear. This is clearly Sister E's element. We go up there...no one else does. WTF?! I am doing the Cupid Shuffle in a bikini in front of multiple people who are staring. They're just jealous, right? Go back to hang out with the good looking men when done. They asked about our matching tattoos. They were so checking us out! We ended up spending the rest of the afternoon hanging out with them. We walked the beach...ahh long walks on the beach haha. I guess not all good looking men are douche bags - just the west coast Americans. Sister E said how proud she was of me for talking with strangers while I was so exposed in my suit. I should be proud of myself! Side note...we noticed many ladies wearing Victoria Secret bikinis...clearly we all think if we buy one it will look just like it did on the model!
That night was the SF 49ers and the NY Giants play off game. We are super stoked. We have prepared for this moment and brought our Niners jerseys. We get back to the boat and get ourselves cute in our little shorts and jerseys and make our way to the bar playing the game. We grab the couch - front row! Whoo hoo. I go get us sandwiches since we will be missing out on the dining room this evening. The people who sat behind us asked if I was the girl from the Game Show. Seriously we are famous on this cruise! Niners lost. We were depressed and went and got frozen yogurt. We were actually pretty tired from the day as well...you know how tiring it can to be fabulous in the sun for the day! We had to be up early for horseback riding in Freeport the next day so we went to bed at a very reasonable hour of just past midnight. I should add that the phone rang several times while we were getting ready...it could only be one person I suppose. We didn't answer.

Monday - Hello Freeport! We have a two hour beach horseback riding adventure to look forward to. We get off the ship and try to get a taxi - of course no shuttle will take us for cheap because there isn't a large group going to the stables. It cost us $27 to get there! When we get there what struck us as funny was all the cats just hanging out with everyone, sitting on the picnic table, laying in the sun. Funny. Then we were approached by a couple and he said they were sitting behind us at the game last night. He pointed at me and said pink jersey and then pointed at my sister and said red jersey...seriously?! We must be pretty awesome. We talked with him awhile. Super nice. Cruising for his wife's bday. He thought we were his daughters age...21. Ahh I think we love him! We began to get loaded up onto our horses. Sister E and I were the last ones...not sure why, but Sister E got an all white horse. My comment to her...if we can't get a man in shining armor to ride in on a white horse we will do it ourselves! Okay well my horse was tan, but her horse could have been a unicorn...so pretty. The ride was great and we learned about the history of the island as we road through some forest and along the beach and in the ocean. Then we got back to the stables and it was time to dismount the horses and wow I certainly didn't feel like a 21 year old after I got off...I felt 90!! My knees were killing me and so were my lady parts. After the riding we went into the market area and walked down to the beach. We ate a local "restaurant" and by restaurant I mean a shack with a grill. I ordered grilled conch. Sister E had a burger and fries. My food was amazing!! It was grilled with bell peppers, onions, tomatoes and bananas. It I could have wrapped it up and taken it home I would have! I ate every last bite. So good. We saw the boys along the beach and said we would see them later. We walked down the beach a ways to get away from the crowd - and of course being asked if we wanted to buy drugs or rent jet skis. We settled in and a man walked by and started smoking some weed about 20 feet from us. He then came over to talk to us. Mouth full of gold! He squatted down in front of us and had a whole in the crotch of his shorts. Awesome. He sat and talked to us for awhile...not the brightest man...and I started to wonder if he was going to take my bag and make a run for it. He didn't and we left to get back on the ship. Time to get sassed up again for the night. I wear my tight blue dress. Sister E wears her tight purple dress. We are color blocking...if we stand together. Again the phone rang several times. Ah I'm such a bitch and don't answer. I don't want to hang out with him. We go to dinner and tonight we try frog legs!! In all honesty they really do taste just like chicken!! After dinner we go do a little gambling and then go to another comedy show. We take our seats and the waiter comes over and tells Sister E that the man behind her in the white shirt wants to buy her a drink. WTF?! Am I chopped liver? She doesn't have her contacts in and the room is mostly dark. She turns around, but cannot tell who it is. I turn around, but there is someone in my way and I cannot tell either! She asks what she is supposed to do. I say when you get the drink you turn around and raise your glass in cheers and say thank you. So she does and she tells me that he tipped his beer toward her, but she has no idea what the man looks like. She is worried it is some old man. I said she said thank you and that is all she is obligated to do. After the show we see the guy she has been hanging out with...in a white shirt. Haha it was him!! He said he would have bought me one, but I had a drink in my hand when I walked in. I believe "whatever" was my response. We had a good laugh about that. We wanted to see the second show as these comedians were just so funny!! So we sat with Sister E's boy and chatted while we waited for the next act. He really is a nice southern boy! After comedy we hit the disco again. We met up with the rest of the group and proceed to drink and dance the night away! Such good times. Mace the Face sits me down and tries to sweet talk me, but I am not even remotely interested. He was fun to dance with, but he works on a cruise where I'm sure he can get young ladies whenever he wants. Speaking of that...Orlando was trying to get Sister E to hang out with him privately later. Whatever Orlando. Sister E wasn't interested really either...besides she had been hanging out with the very nice southern gentleman who appeared to have zero percentage of douchiness in him. We closed the disco that night. We left with our boys. Cute and smart southern gentleman with the MBA took my hand and we walked along the deck of the ship and looked at the stars. It was really all quite romantic. I can neither confirm nor deny that he kissed me. Not sure what time we parted ways or went to bed, but I know we didn't get up until noon the following day...just in time for lunch!

Tuesday was our last Fun Day at Sea. We ate lunch and watched some entertainment on the dock. We then went and sat up on the top deck and I read my book. Sister E's boy found us and sat and chatted for awhile. He said they were all meeting up there to watch the sunset and drink wine. Fabulous! After the sun set it was time to get ready for our last night on the ship. Hmmm I wonder what we should wear...we ended up wearing a dress that we both have. Its such a cute dress and we have our own styles so it definitely was a "Who Wore it Better" moment, but we thought it would be funny. It was. After dinner in the dining hall and chatting with the people next to us we went to do some more gambling and of course that is where the boys were...but I kind of got ignored. Hmmmm. I was up $65 at the craps table, which I have never played and still don't really understand the rules, but it was good fun. We were going to do live band karaoke that night with our biggest karaoke fan. We met up with our biggest fan and decided we would sing Dancing Queen. It would be awhile so I chatted with our biggest fan while Sister E hung out with her southern boy. Turns out our biggest fan has never been married and has no children. He is an attractive older black gentleman who is well spoken and has such a great positive attitude. He said the lady he was seeing died suddenly a few years ago and he hasn't dated since. He asked if I had tried the online dating thing. Oh good Lord you all know I have! He didn't like the idea of having personal information out there. I'm pretty sure he would make some lady quite happy. It was time to sing! We are rock stars!! Oh this was so much better than our first performance! Our new friend got up and sang by himself! Impressive. Then he signed up his friend...who apparently came in with the others and sat in the back. Wonder why they didn't come sit with us? Karaoke was over at midnight and we had to be off the ship at 7:20. I didn't want to third wheel it dancing with Sister E and her southern boy so I went ahead and called it a night since I got ignored...geez story of my life huh? The next morning came way to soon and before we knew it we were off the ship and the cruising vacation was over. Overall it was a great vacation and seriously if you are in your 30's and fabulous and need a little ego boost (something I desperately needed after the previous few months) then a cruise just might be the perfect little vacation. It was truly funny how many people asked us if we were the girls that___ (fill in the blank)__, were we friends, sisters, twins (and not just when we had on matching outfits), etc. Great time.
I'm sure you are wondering what other stories I could possibly have to tell after all that! I'm going to bounce around a little with the dates of things, but I'm sure you can follow. Months ago my friend C-pilot...you all may remember him as one of my best friends who also knew T-pilot, texted me while he was out with a friend of his in Charleston, SC. Well he told this friend about me and he got my number and we became facebook friends and would occasionally text or email...saying if I was ever in Charleston we would have to meet. He is also a pilot. We will call him D-pilot. Geesh I hope I never get through the whole alphabet with these pilots. In his pictures he is pretty darn cute and my friend C-pilot said he was a good guy. So before my cruise I let him know that I would be in Charleston if he wanted to hang out the Thursday (Jan 26) before I flew out Friday morning (I went to my other sisters when I got back from the cruise and had a delightful time). He had to work Thursday so we planned to get together that evening. He texted me Thursday to say he was thinking of Coast Bar and Grille for dinner and then a little King Street bar hopping after. Sounds good to me. I googled the restaurant and pulled up the menu so I knew what kind of food it was. Oh wow this is an expensive seafood restaurant. No entree was under $20. Uh oh, was this a date? I thought this would probably just be a hey we have a friend in common who we like so obviously his friends would be cool so that means it would be cool to hang out (did you follow that?) So I had my sister curl my hair and I wore tight black pants and my splatter painted tee...all my good stuff was dirty from the cruise, but my sister still said I looked fabulous - but she said next time to wear something tighter haha. I navigated my way through downtown Charleston and he texted me to see if I wanted a drink and he'd have it waiting for me :) I got to the restaurant just before 7 and was surprisingly not nervous. I walked through the door and the bar was right in front of me (where he said he would be sitting). Oh my God he is hot. Feck. What is up with the hot pilots?! Life is not fair to me, really. He stood up and the first thing he said was "Wow, you look beautiful." I had to refrain from saying "you too." He gave me a big hug and then I was nervous. He, much like the other two pilots I know, was immediately friendly. Oh goodness he is cute and nice. I'm in trouble. He had on jeans and a black striped button down shirt with the sleeves rolled to the elbows. He had on nice shoes and had a short buzz haircut. There were no lags in our conversation and it didn't take long for me to start getting comfortable. He has a masters degree and he is a pilot, with an accent, who is friendly...seriously why don't boys like these live closer to me!! Well I ordered crab encrusted tilapia...it might have been one of the cheaper meals at $19.50 and it was oh so good, plus having something nice to look at while I ate probably helped. He paid for dinner. Oh isn't he nice!!I was expecting to pay for my own since I didn't know what kind of meeting this was, but I of course greatly appreciated it and told him so. He said he had some friends out at a bar if I wanted to go meet up with them. Of course. So he drove us to another location and we still had to walk a few blocks. There was a storm rolling in...so the humidity was starting and it made my hair look like shit. We stopped at Hagaan Daaz for some ice cream and again he paid. We tried each others...oh isn't that cute! I spilled some on my pants...good thing they were black. We got to the bar his friends were at...there were like 8 of them!! Including four well put together ladies. I immediately felt kind of frumpy with my frizzy hair and shirt that is too big. Everyone was so nice and I know I came across as maybe not so nice. I really wish I could be outgoing and friendly in groups of people I don't know! I responded to questions, but I don't really jump into conversations with my own tidbits of information. D-pilot's roommate was there, who is also a pilot as were several of the other men there and the girls were mostly girlfriends of deployed pilots. We did oyster shooters as a group...think bloody mary with an oyster. I chewed my oyster. Apparently I was not supposed to do this. Ha. We spent a little time there before heading to another bar. D-pilot had to work in the morning and didn't really want to be out too late and he didn't want to get peer pressured into drinking so we left to walk back to my car.
I have no idea how far we walked, but we walked for a good 45 minutes just talking and at one point there was a little gust of wind...which of course was my opportunity to loop my arm through his :) So we walked arm in arm talking and laughing. Then he stops and says he thinks we are lost - that he had such a good time he wasn't paying attention to where we were. Ah isn't that nice. Thank goodness for google maps and we found our way to my car. I think it was kind of clear that we were both having such a good time getting to know each other that we didn't want to part ways...I mean this is the only night we have. We decided I would give him a ride home and his roomie would take him to his car the next day. It was probably around midnight at this point. At his house we just talked some more, drank some wine and I enjoyed his perfect smile. He wanted me to change my flight, asked when I was coming back...Oh I sure do enjoy his company. My flight was early at 6:40 and I stayed at his house until it was time to head back to my sisters. He asked if he could kiss me...um hell ya! Feck Feck Feck why do fabulous men not live here??!! He's smart, adorable, educated and fun...and lives completely on the other side of the country!! So depressing. Oh well someday I'll meet the right one...right??
I may have done something stupid in early January...after the semi success my sister had on a dating site I thought I would give in another whirl. Oh God what was I thinking...especially since the guy my sister had been dating turned into a royal asshole. Too late my profile was up. My attitude toward it really was meet new people and make new friends. I started corresponding with someone who said they were just there looking for a friend. Perfect! He had one picture...I know I've learned this lesson before - be wary of the one picture profile!! We didn't have the most stimulating conversation via email, but I know that men aren't always the best with that and since he just was looking for friends I was giving him the benefit of the doubt. We agreed to meet on Friday the 13th for lunch. This was the day I was getting my hair extensions (I should stop telling me this and let them think my hair is fabulous on its own) so I had to wash my hair twice, no conditioner and no products! I haven't left the house without conditioner or product in my hair since I was probably 12. Oh well, make it work moment! I straightened my hair, wore a gray striped shirt and jeans tucked into my knee high black boots. Casual yet cute. I get to the restaurant first. I see him walk in with his sunglasses on...he is wearing jeans with tennis shoes and a shirt circa 1997. I know this because I worked in a clothing store in 1997 and we had plenty of these in the mens department. His profile said 37...um okay...and I'm 22. He kind of reminded me of my dad, I like my dad, a lot, but I wouldn't really hang out with a 50 something year old man. Anyway, conversation was a struggle! I couldn't wait to leave. He spoke kind of softly and we had so many silent moments...crickets! I'm sorry, but I cannot be friends with someone if we cannot even carry on a conversation. I tried, I really did! We just didn't click. He obviously noticed too because haven't heard from either.

The next night, January 14, my friends and I had planned to go dancing. As previously written, I didn't get to go out on new years (which I was not disappointed about) but did want a night out. I needed to feel good about myself after the whole stuff went down with Douche Lord CD. I had just got my hair extensions and had a fabulous blue dress I hadn't worn yet. I was on a mission to be fabulous...and I was! Good music and lots of people at the club. I saw a guy there that I actually had met on Halloween so my brave fabulous self approached him for a dance. We spent the rest of the night together. So much fun! Dancing our little booties off and having a great time. He is about 6'6" and probably weighs as much as I do, smooth black skin and plays basketball for UNR...you can figure out how old he is haha. If people are going to assume I'm young I am no longer going to correct them! He was nice and we had fun dancing so that is all that matters!
Next week was the cruise...see above :) and then wonderful time with D-Pilot :)
Upon my cruise return I was still on the dating site and had made another lunch date for Sunday, January 29. This man was 35, worked construction and looking for a long term relationship. I actually had a phone conversation with him before, it was brief, but we laughed. I looked forward to this. I wore a black v-neck tee with some design on it, jeans and my fabulous knee high boots. Another casual yet cute lunch look. My hair was curled. We met in the front of the restaurant and he had his sunglasses on...he took them off. Oh dear. He kind of looks like a drug user. Ugh. I now believe speed dating is a marvelous idea...I know within five minutes of meeting someone if I want to spend a whole date with them. I knew this was not someone I wanted to have a date with. I realize that sounds incredibly superficial, but I'm sorry he looked much older than 35 with sallow appearing bad skin. I admit I don't have a prefect complexion...He did have on a button down white striped shirt...that was a little wrinkled. I probably looked like his kid sister. It was a late lunch...around 3 pm and I might need a drink to get through this one. We went to a brewery for lunch and I asked if he drank beer...he says he's been sober two years. Oh maybe he was a previous drug addict. Wow I realize I'm being a total bitch right now. So he also is kind of a soft talker who is so skinny. The more we talk the more dysfunctional his family sounds - he's got a couple sisters living with him. He does have a good job now and we maintained conversation for the most part, but he was just dull. No pizazz, no animation. Our food came quickly and I was hoping to scoot right out of there after the meal. I didn't get an adult beverage. I offered to pay for my own. He said he would do it...his card was declined. I feel bad now. I should pay for my own. He paid with another card. He said I could get the next one. Um no. So I think this was not the stable-successful-smart-funny man I was looking for.
So after this date I was very frustrated and depressed. I took down my profile the next day, but I did give my number to two other people I was corresponding with and have been in texting contact with them this week so I may have two more potential dates off this site. However, I find my tolerance of these dating sites keep getting shorter and shorter because I have the same conversations with people and then when I meet them they are not what they presented on their profile. I guess these next two will at least give me more to blog about....I'm just looking for someone I am attracted to who can carry on a conversation - is that really too much to ask for??
I do have another fun story to blog about...but since that happened on Feb 2 I will reserve it for the next one as this blog was just about January. All in all January was an absolutely fabulous month and a great start to the new year. I know I didn't do my new years resolution of doing two social outings by myself...but seriously I think I did pretty good this month aside from that! I am recovering from strep throat and think I have exerted about all the energy I can for now.
Keep thinking happy dating thoughts for me. Until next time...
